Evaluation
When we talk about evaluating soil conditions, this does not mean that we will take soil samples and send them off for an analysis. What we will do is test soil compaction by using a penetrometer. This test will tell us the PSI (pressure per square inch) of the soil and recommend the application of Green Sense Lawn & Garden Microbial Solution or mechanical aeration. We will also spot check in flowerbeds for the presence of earthworms, to determine soil health, and in the lawn for grubs that may be damaging the root system. Release of worms or application of worm castings and beneficial nematodes will be recommended if necessary.
Treatment of Problems
We can help you identify and treat a number of problem areas. We offer the following solutions.
Healthy Trees
If trees seem to be in stressful situations we recommend applications of Mycor to increase root hyphae or Howard Garrett's "Sick Tree Treatment."
Fungicide Application
Brown Patch, Black Spot and other visible fungal problems areas will be identified and treatment will be detailed. Our preferred method to control fungal problems is by using Potassium Bicarbonate or Actinovate.
Organic Pest Control
We will determine the best methods for controlling the bad guys that are in your landscape. We have organic applications for controlling fire ants, roaches, grub worms, web worms, chinch bugs, fleas, caterpillars, grasshoppers, snails and slugs, white flies, mosquitoes, spider mites, pillbugs and aphids. Weed Control
Weeds are a common problem for many of our beginning customers. Through the use of vinegar, citrus oil, and corn gluten meal, we can get a hold of these pesky plants. Also through the continued use of our organic methods, weeds will decrease and not be a problem any more!
Improvement of Soil Health
Using organic, all-natural products and techniques, we can improve the condition of your soil, allowing for healthier and hardier plant life.
Microbial Application
By releasing microbes into the soil early in the year we can decrease compaction and improve percolation. In most instances mechanical aeration becomes unnecessary. Another reason for applying Microbes is to improve the health of the soil by increasing microbial activity, which breaks down organic matter into humus, then humic acid, and then basic elements. This is a process known as mineralization and helps create a balance of physics, chemistry, and biology necessary to all life. One tablespoon of healthy soil contains 50 billion microbes.
Aeration
We use a mechanical core aerator for the best aeration method possible. This reduces soil compaction, improves drainage and increases microbial activity in the soil.
Lawn and Landscape Fertilization
We will fertilize your entire landscape using all-natural products that are specially made for your situation. Our evaluation will have identified needs specific to your landscape and we will fulfill those needs with the appropriate fertilization program. We use our specially formulated line of organic Green Sense Products that have become the preferred choice for thousands of homeowners and companies who want all natural products for their lawns and gardens. Our fetilizers will build up organic matter in your soil while increasing the population of microbes and beneficial insects, therefore decreasing your need for the application of pesticides, herbicides and other toxic chemicals. Depending on the results from the penetrometer, Green Sense All Purpose Fertilizers will be applied a minimum of three times per year at a rate of 20 pounds per 1,000 square feet. If results from the penetrometer are favorable and there is not a need for a microbial application then, a fourth application of Green Sense All Purpose Fertilizers will be applied.
Beneficial Nematode Application
We now can apply beneficial nematodes for you. Our new formulation contains the same species of nematodes that we've had in the past, but now we can apply them using a sprayer. This means a quick application, higher concentrations of active units, and quicker results. Our nematodes are kept refrigerated and are delivered weekly in a cooler. This important factor of refrigeration insures that you will receive live nematodes that will go to work devouring harmful pests. For more information on nematodes and their benefits, click here.
Foliar Feeding
Trees, shrubs, perennials, annuals, and even lawn grass, will benefit greatly from a monthly foliar feeding. Green Sense Foliar Juice contains Seaweed derived from ascophylum nodosum, Fish emulsion, manure, compost tea and Apple cider vinegar for an additional boost. Foliar feeding is ideal for new landscapes.
