Rohde's Nursery and Nature Store was one of the first nurseries in the Dallas area to carry only organic fertilizers and employ pest control using beneficial insects, microorganisms and bacteria products. As a result, our knowledge in the use of organic gardening techniques has over ten years of practical experience.



New Announcements

Rohde's has found yet another high quality line of pet food to add to our inventory. This brand is called "FreeHand". The added bonus of this line is that for every bag we sell, they donate an equal size bag to a nonprofit organization. The two organizations we are supporting are Animal Allies, and Straydog. Another bonus is that this food is manufactured in Texas with U.S.A. ingredients. There are four different formulas; all are corn, wheat, gluten, and soy free. There are multiple products for different plants. But there are subtle differences in the products, they all perform the same basic functions for the plants on the specific product labels. Simply, the products are designed to release locked away nutrients in the soil, restore biological activity, increase root growth and provide an extension to the root system with the mycorrhizal fungi.

Landscape Design and Installation

We offer landscape installation including tree, shrub and other plant material planting; installation of pave stone surfaces; rock work including flagstone patios and rock walls; wooden decks; and water ponds and fountains. Landscape design services are available from selected independent designers who work closely with the Rohde's crew on the installation of the design. Our long time, in-house designer is Sally Sutton. Our new landscape consultant is Julie Ryan, author of "Perennial Gardens for Texas" and co-author of "Landscaping with Native Texas Plants". A Nature Store

Bird seed, bird houses and feeders are only some of the bird supplies you will find at our nature store. We have plenty of gifts for nature-lovers and items to add style to your garden. Herb and plant markers, garden plaques, garden statues and water features are only a few of the items you can find here. Look for unique T-shirts, caps, garden shoes, and gloves. We also carry natural pet care products including shampoo, food supplements and dog and cat food.

A Source for Texas Native Plants

We carry trees, shrubs, perennials, and ground covers that are native to the Texas landscape. These plant materials generally require less maintenance, are more disease resistant and can be quite drought tolerant because they are indigenous to the area. We are a great resource for these sometimes 'hard to find' plants! Click here for a complete list of the plants we try to carry. Of course we can't carry everything, all the time. Availability of plants is based on our growers' inventory, and that can vary with time of year and weather conditions.
